Finding the Right CBD Dosage for You
As with most medications and supplements, it is generally recommended you find the lowest effective dosage to alleviate your ailment. The same goes for CBD. If you’re new to CBD, start with a lower dose, especially when ingesting it (like you would with our delish CBD gummies!) It’s best to start with lower dosages and work your way up as needed. Dosage of CBD for individuals is dependent on a range of factors, including:
- Past experience with CBD
- The condition & severity of condition you’re treating
- Your individual body chemistry
- The concentration of CBD
When considering a CBD dosage that works best for you, it’s important to consider multiple factors at a time (hello multi-tasking!) For instance, if you have a lower body weight and a mild condition, you should consider starting quite low and increasing gradually. If you have a more serious condition and are higher in body weight you may be able to tolerate a higher dosage starting out.
Before trying CBD, it’s best to phone a friend – like your doctor! If you are currently on any medication(s) or if you are pregnant or nursing, it’s best to check with your doctor before you take CBD. If your doctor tells you how much to use, stick to his or her recommendation. If your doctor doesn’t provide a specific recommendation, here’s some guidance to get you started.
How many milligrams (mg) of CBD should I take?
Keep in mind, there are only generalized guidelines when it comes to how much CBD you should be taking each day. Like a great friend or a sports bra, CBD is supportive. It’s there to just help you do you – so this information should in no way be interpreted as a medical recommendation. This is a generic guideline that you should use to consult with a doctor to decide.
Use the same small dose and ratio for a few days, and let your body adjust and react to it. Then, slowly turn up the volume ‘til you hit your personal sweet spot (aka, your Happy PlaceTM!). You’ll know it when you feel it.
Is it possible to take too much CBD?
The good news: In most cases it’s quite difficult to take too much CBD. Phew. It’s important to be smart and sparing as much as possible; but it’s unlikely that you could take too much and experience any harmful side effects of CBD. CBD is safe, but it can have powerful effects. That’s why it’s super-duper important to listen to your body when using CBD. A 2017 study showed that large doses of CBD have been well tolerated by humans; this confirmed an earlier study's findings from 2011.

CBD Won’t Make You Feel High
Unlike THC, CBD is non-intoxicating and will not give you the notorious feeling of being ‘high’. Instead, consistent use of CBD may help in alleviating the symptoms of various ailments and in doing so, can – TA DA! - improve your overall well-being.
Side effects of CBD
To date, there are very few known side effects of CBD. When side effects do occur, however, they are usually very mild and may include appetite changes, diarrhea or fatigue. As with any medication, side effects are more common when you are taking much more than the recommended dosages.
